Bob “Buckeye Flats” Smith comes from the Buckeye state of Ohio.  He was first introduced to firearms by his grandfather, a French Canadian lumberjack, and father who were both avid outdoorsmen.  And at an early age Bob was allowed to go on hunts as a “game bearer” until he was old enough to shoulder a .22 rifle and a .410 shotgun.

He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1968 – 1972.  Bob honed his skills as a marksman during his tour of duty.  After the service, Bob came West to California where he attended college and further explored his love of the outdoors as a mountain climbing guide and teacher.

Bob’s interest in cowboyin' started early like so many boys his age by watching Gunsmoke, The Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and all the great westerns.  This interest continued through his love of horses and the western lifestyle.  Bob now owns three horses and a mule named “Bubba”.  He has participated in team penning and roping and has ridden in numerous rodeo parades such as the San Dimas Rodeo and the Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo.  As part of the Quarter Oak Ranch cowboys, depicting 1800's range cowboys, the group won First Place six years in a row at the San Dimas rodeo parade.  As a single entry in the Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo parade, he won first place two years in a row.

Bob’s first interest in cowboy action shooting came when he first attended the EOT in 1992.  Although attending as a spectator every year since, he has been a SASS member since 2000.

During his career, Bob worked in the western retail industry where he increased his knowledge of hats and the skills required in the care and maintenance of cowboy hats.  Bob understands how important the hat is to an individual and brings this attitude to Walker '47.  So if you’re lookin' to add another hat to your collection, just starting your collection, need shaping and cleaning of an old hat, or you just want to come on by and talk horses and mules, stop in to say "Howdy".   Just contact Bob by email info@walker47.com, or call him at (714) 871-8171, fax (714) 871-8516 and he'll be glad to assist you with all your hat needs.
