full-time leather business was born over 10 years ago. Now,
in addition to a full line of archery products, Dave crafts
holsters, belts, pouches, cases, scabbards, sheaths, chaps, saddlebags,
hornbags, cartridge belts,
money/cartridge belts, canvas forager and Mills belts, Civil War saber
and pistol belts, bandoleers, blanket cloth and leather rifle cases,
haversacks, leather rifleman's pouches, flask holders, cylinder
holders and many other items....in addition to doing repairs. Although Dave
enjoys tooling leather, most of the holsters and belts he crafts are
adorned with simple borders - what he likes to think of as
"working" leather. If you want something tooled or
adorned with conchos, however, Dave can accommodate that also.
Holsters and scabbards are usually lined (unless ordered without a
liner) and are built of top-grain saddle skirting or strap leather.
Dave wants a holster to keep its form and to have a firm body, not
become limp or collapse when a pistol is withdrawn. Therefore, he tends
toward stiffer leathers with a firm "hand," not only for
practicality, but for long use.
Whether your
interest is in hunting (modern or black powder), reenacting the Civil
War, Indian Wars, or the Old West, or if you're a SASS shooter, Dave can
provide a full rig or reproduce an antique holster or family heirloom.
As a reference for designs and ideas Dave uses the publication Packing
Iron and can not only duplicate many of the items therein, but can
embellish them as well, in addition to creating his own.
So, browse
the next few pages for samples of Dave's work. However, if it's a
custom or reproduction piece that you want, Dave is up for, and capable
of, the challenge and will provide you with a product that you will be
proud to display and use. If you don't see it here, you can call
him
at (714) 871-8171, fax (714) 871-8516 or email Dave at

and he'll be happy to accommodate you.
