SASS #18583
Stealth Bullet Shooting Society # 970

     B. J. ("Jack") Bourland was born 17 days into the second half of the second quarter of the century.  Just four years after the start of the political correctness as we know it.

The first eight years of his life were spent on a farm in southeast Arkansas.  Devoid of most modern

amenities, life in the country could be considered primitive by today's standards.  Going to town on Saturday and to the movies was another thing, one might even say another world.  On a diet of "B" westerns and "A" pictures like "Drums Along the Mohawk" and "The Last of the Mohigans" was born a life-long love for American history along with the things and people that made our great country.

The next fifty years involved a move to California, obtaining an education, pursuing a career, marriage, and a family.

Now in retirement, Jack (SASS # 18583) has been a widower for a few years and when not out visiting historical sights, hunting or fishing, he can be found hanging out at Walker '47.  Jack is kind of like our rock here at Walker '47.  With 40+ years of shooting experience and many more years of information tucked under his hat, Jack can answer almost any question you might have about black powder and/or cartridge shooting or the history and specs of your firearms.  Ask him any question and if he doesn't know the answer, he'll surely find it out for you.  (Maybe one of these days we'll have a "stump Jack" contest - although we don't expect anyone will win - except Jack, that is.  The only time we remember him being at a loss for an answer was when we were trying to remember the name of the Indian chief on the Howdy Doody show -- but then again that's not really history is it!)  Or, if you want, ask him to share one of his stories with you - he's got a million of them!

Got a firearm you want to check up on?  Got a bet going with your best friend about the year Billy the Kid was killed or what general did what at Gettysburg, Antietam or Manassas, or what firearm was used when?  Just give Jack a call at (714) 871-8171, fax (714) 871-8516 or email him at info@walker47.com and he'll get you the answer or settle that bet in a polite manner with a friendly smile and a good feeling knowing he helped you out.
